Vasilis Koukoumtzis, acquired his BSc in Chemistry in 2013 from the Department of Chemistry, University of Patras. In the year 2011-12 he completed his research work on "Temperature- and cationic surfactant- responsive photoluminescence of quinolone-labeled poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) in aqueous solution" for his diploma thesis, in the Polymers Laboratory in the Division of Applied, Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, supervised by Prof. G. Bokias. In November of 2013 he enrolled as postgraduate student in a research program of the Chemistry Department of the University of Patras entitled "Advanced Polymeric and Nanostractured Materials".
