Konstantinos Lempotesis, acquired his BSc in Chemistry in 2014 from the Department of Chemistry, University of Patras. In the year 2010-11 he completed his research work on "Synthesis of b Chain of Insulin like 4 peptide (INSL-4)" for his diploma thesis, in the Division A of Organic Biochemistry and Natural Products, supervised by prof K. Barlos,. In November of 2014 he enrolled as postgraduate student in a research program of the Chemistry Department of the University of Patras entitled "Advanced Polymeric and Nanostractured Materials".

Antonis Stratidakis graduated in 2014 from the “Material Science” department of the University of Patras. In the year 2011, he was an exchange student in the “Uppsala University”, in the department of “Physics and Astronomy”. In April of 2014 he enrolled as postgraduate student in a research program at the Chemistry Department of the University of Patras, entitled “Advanced Polymeric and Nanostructured Materials”. Currently his interest focuses on the “Rheological Study of aqueous solutions using amphiphilic polymeric systems”.

Dr. Ioannis Thivaios studied Chemistry at the University of Patras and obtained his Ph. D. award in 2013, in Polymer Science and Technology from the University of Patras in Greece. His research activities (3 publications at international scientific magazines) cover the area of water-soluble polymers. Specific areas of interest include:

  • Use of hydrogels for the selective adsorption of organic dyes from water.
  • Characterization by various Spectroscopy techniques (UV-Vis, FTIR).
  • Design of functional water-soluble polymers with optical properties responsive to external stimuli.
  • Synthesis and physicochemical study of nanoparticles and hybrid materials bearing metal oxides.
  • Design and Synthesis of novel “smart” materials with self-healing and self-assembling properties.

Dr. Christos L. Chochos studied Chemistry at the Chemistry Department of University of Patras (2001). In 2004 he received his master thesis (Msc) in Polymer Science and Technology from the University of Patras and from 2006 he holds a PhD in Polymer Science and Technology from the University of Patras (Prof. Ioannis Kallitsis and Dr Vasilis Gregoriou were the supervisor and co supervisor, respectively). In the period 2007-2008 he was Post Doc Research Associate in the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) Strasbourg, France in collaboration with Professor Georges Hadziioannou, Professor Thomas Heiser and Dr. Nicolas Leclerc working on the synthesis of low band gap conjugated polymers consisting of thieno[3,2-b] thiophene and 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole as new electron donor polymers for organic photovoltaics. In the period 2008-2011, he was research associate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering of the Cyprus University and Technology, Limassol, Cyprus working in the research programs “Optimization of Inkjet Printing Solar Cells” and “Molecular Electronics and Photonics” in the laboratory of Associate Professor Stelios Choulis. From 2012, he is a research scientist at University of Ioannina (Department of Materials Science and Engineering) in the group of Associate Professor Apostolos Avgeropoulos and at FORTH/ICEHT (Patras) in the group of Dr. Vasilis Gregoriou. He is the author of 26 journal articles [h-index=12 (May 2012)] and he is the co-inventor in two international patents with ADVENT Technologies (Greece). Dr. Efstathia Koulouri studied Chemistry at the Chemistry Department of University of Patras (1994). In 1998 she received her PhD in Polymer Science and Technology from the University of Patras supervised by Prof. Ioannis Kallitsis (Reactive blending of Polymers using Copolymers with functional groups). In the period 30/9/97 - 16/1/98 she worked as researcher in the University of Groningen, Netherlands. She has conducted postdoctoral work at the Chemistry Department and at the Department of Materials Science of the University of Patras working in research programs and operational programmes for education and initial vocational training. She is the author of 9 journal articles in refereed journals, 1 book chapter and 11 conference presentations (peered reviewed) and has 163 citations (excluding self citations). Since 18/12/01 she is responsible for teaching analytical laboratory exercises (qualitative and quantitative analytical chemistry) to first and second year undergraduate chemistry students and has been involved in the coordination of the internship program of the fourth year students.

Dr. Evdokia Oikonomou (over 10 papers in international refereed journals) studied Material Science and Engineering at the University of Ioannina. She obtained her M.Sc. (2006) and PhD (2009) in the InterDepartmental Post Graduate Program on Polymer Science and Technology-University of Patras in Greece. She has been a Post Doctoral researcher at the labatory ‘Soft Matter and Chemistry’ at the Ecole Supérieure de Physique et Chimie Industrielles de la ville de Paris (ESPCI-ParisTech) in France for almost 2 years. Her research interests focus on synthesis of water-soluble and amphiphilic block copolymers and their interactions with surfactants, polymer-metal interactions, controlled release of biocides from polymers and preparation of porous membranes for waste-water treatment.

Dr. Nikos Koromilas studied Chemistry at the University of Patras and received his Master and PhD in 2012 and 2016 respectively, in Advanced Polymeric and Nanostructured Materials at the University of Patras. He was a Post Doctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry, University of Patras, working on the research project entitled "Development of polymeric membranes for water purification" in the framework of the project ARCHERS, carried out by the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), and funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. His research activities focused on the development of random, block and grafted/crosslinked copolymers containing groups with bacteriostatic action, via techniques like free radical polymerization (FRP), atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and synthetic procedures such as reactive blending. He had 7 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 12 participations in national and international conferences.

Athanassopoulou Aikaterini, Chemical Engineer, Department of Chemical Engineering University of Patras (2009). In the year 2008-09 she completed her research work on  "Biopolymers production from olive oil waste in the Laboratory of Biochemichal Engineering and Environmental Technology at the Chemical Engineering Department of University of Patras. In 2009 she followed postgraduate studies and acquired her MSc in Management from University of Bath, UK. In 2011 she was enrolled as postgraduate student in a research program of the Chemistry Department of the University of Patras entitled "Advanced Polymeric and Nanostractured Materials".

Kourkouli N. Souzana, Chemist, PhD candidate in the Department of Chemistry, University of Patras. Acquired her B.Sc in Chemistry in 2008 from the Department of Chemistry, University of Patras. In the year 2007-2008 she completed her research work on "Synthesis and characterization of complexes compounds of Ga(III) with the organic ligand H2saben" in the Division of Physical, Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry. In 2008 she was enrolled as postgraduate student in the Polymers Laboratory in the Division of Applied, Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, supervised by Prof. J.K. Kallitsis. Her research activities focus on the synthesis and characterization of semiconducting polymers, copolymers and hybrid polymeric nanomaterials based on carbon nanostructrures (carbon nanotube, fullerene) for optoelectronic applications.

Dr. Christina Morfopoulou is currently working as Product Manager and Hazardous Materials Manager for the global market of chemical products at Mercedes – Benz AG in Stuttgart. In previous years she also worked in management positions mostly on energy applications (fuel cells and water electrolysis) and water treatment systems. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a doctorate degree in the field of Polymer Science and Technology. She also served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the  Advanced Polymers and Hybrid Nanomaterials Research Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at University of Patras as well as at Foundation of Research and Technology Hellas-The Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (FORTH/ ICE-HT).
