In the present research project hybrid copolymers containing inorganic nanoparticles or carbon nanostructures are prepared to be used for Kevlar modification targeting to the improvement of stab-resistance properties of the polymer-coated Kevlar fabrics. Eco-friendly, water soluble composite materials based on copolymers bearing crosslinkable side groups (P(SSNax-co-GMAy)) are synthesized. Stable hybrid suspensions of these copolymers with different inorganic particle type and contents are prepared and tested in order to find the optimal coating conditions of Kevlar sheets via spraying. The incorporation of inorganic particles into copolymer resulted in anti-stabbing properties improvement. These results are promising thus enabling the fabrication of armours with reduced weight.
